The student Makers expressed their determination and desire to play an active role in the trend of " mass entrepreneurship and innovation”.

The full text of the letter:

Dear student Makers of Tsinghua University:

I received your letter just when the Youth Day is around the corner and I am impressed not only by your vitality, but your spirit of innovation. Makers materialize ideas into real products which echoes Tsinghua’s school spirit “actions speak louder than words” that is engraved on the campus sundial. There is no doubt that learning is the first task of students. I hope that contemporary college students are always eager to learn and have a solid knowledge foundation. You should learn not only from books but also through practice. At the same time, the pioneering spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship by breaking the convention should also be encouraged.

The core of “mass entrepreneurship and innovation “is to stimulate creativity, among young people in particular. Only when the youth are willing to start a business, the society will be dynamic; Only when the youth keep innovating, the country will be prosperous.

I appreciate what you said in your letter: “in the era of Makers, creation is no longer the profession of a minority, but an opportunity for the majority.” The Government will introduce more positive policies to facilitate the development of Makerspace to provide a larger stage

for the Makers to display their talent and realize their value.

I hope you can continue to enrich the culture of the Maker and spread the seed of the Maker to a wider range. I would like to visit your team in person. Please remember me to your teachers and classmates!

Li Keqiang
