The International Chinese Association of Computer Human Interaction (ICACHI) (icachi.org) was established on May 10, 2012 in Austin, USA (during ACM CHI2012 International Conference). The 1st International Seminar and the 2nd Chinese CHI International Seminar were held in Paris on April 29, 2013 (ACM CHI2013 International Conference) and in Toronto during April 26-27.

The Chinese CHI 2015 International Seminar will provide an opportunity for HCI researchers from all over the world to exchange their insights about HCI. HCI, or human-computer interaction, is designed to explore the interaction between users and machines. A successful HCI project requires many cross-disciplinary talents and knowledge. It includes machine-related research areas such as computer graphics, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, multimedia, systems, computer networks; users-related research areas such as video media, industrial design, linguistics, social science cognitive psychology, human design and other related theories.

Chinese CHI 2015 is to be held in Seoul, South Korea. We hope to communicate and draw merits from overseas Chinese HCI industry researchers.

The International Chinese Association of Computer Human Interaction (ICACHI) (icachi.org) was established on May 10, 2012 in Austin, USA. The board of directors is composed of 27 overseas Chinese representatives (including two supervisors) who are active in the field of CHI.

The purpose of the Association is to facilitate its members’ personal development, raise their status around the globe, and contribute to the mankind through CHI studies. The Association is the first international pure academic organization on CHI founded by Chinese which is open and transparent both internally and externally.

Like air and water, HCI is ubiquitous. It is an interdisciplinary field of research that focuses on the design, evaluation and implementation of interactive computing systems as well as the phenomena surrounding them. HCI is very important in itself and in its applications in computer science and information science. The purpose of this research is to make the information flow between humans and computers (or H-C-H) smoother. Thus, HCI is an indispensable research area for the sound development of IT-based society in the 21th century. In a broad sense, HCI is also a study that explores interactive ways between human and the entire information space.

The HCI field that combines the computer-generated imaginary world with the real world is bound to be further developed and realize more applications that change the world. We firmly believe that with concerted efforts of the Council and all members, the Association and HCI field will have more brilliant prospects.
