[2015.04.29] [News] Work Conference Held at Tsinghua University for Co-Making the Future

Introduction

On April 26, 2015, the 104th anniversary of Tsinghua University, the Ministry of Education held the work conference for the 2nd China-US Young Maker Competition--Co-Making the Future in the Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University.

The work conference brought together representatives from the government, academia, business community and social maker organizations to discuss the detailed process of the competition.


Zhao Ling Shuang, Project Leader of the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of China, Huang Liqiong, Director of Investment Department of the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange(CSCSE), Sun Hongbin, Deputy Director of Academic Affairs Department of Tsinghua University, as well as Professor Fu Zhiyong from the Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University and Zhu Wenli, General Manager of Enterprise Affairs Department of Intel (China) Co., Ltd. and his team, attended the working conference. The 1st session of the competition has been included in the 104 results list of Sino-US cultural exchanges. "The Ministry of Education in 2014 hosted the 1st China-US Young Maker Competition that involved Maker teams from both China and the United States and emphasized the spirit of cooperation and sharing among the youth.” This Competition will serve as the main activity of the sixth annual US-China High-Level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange (CPE). It will jointly explore, nurture and incubate outstanding maker teams and projects by integrating Makerspace, innovation platform, incubator, accelerator and relevant investment institutions of China and America. The competition will lead the way of global Makers culture and entrepreneurial practice in terms of social and commercial innovation and sustainable development.


Co-Making the Future--the 2nd China-US Young Maker Competition is hosted by the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China and co-organized by the CSCSE, Tsinghua University and Intel. The competition is divided into three stages: the first stage of the competition was in May; The second stage will be officially launched on June 19 in the United States; The finals will be held in August 2015.
